...Day 4...save yourself!
...making a difference in your NUTRITION habits are easier than you think...
...remember...you have to walk before you can run...
...we are only on DAY 4...so still a bunch of growing to do...
...but it STARTS HERE....
Tips for the next 26 days to a better life....
1- cut out all of the SIMPLE sugars...in drinks, baking, treats....if you are jonesing for a fix of sugar....grab a piece of fruit!!!
2- cut out the coffee! Sugar and milk often ride-shotgun with a dehydrating cup of joe...You can kill two birds with one stone by making it an anti-oxidant rich cup of green tea...
3- plan your meals!....it is easy to make a rash decision if you are hungry...before you know it you are brushing donut crumbs off of your shirt...dont let this happen to you...if you are chronically tight for time pack some protein or meal replacement bars in your glove compartment...(my choice....is a KATY BAR!!! as always...they can be purchased at Gorilla Jack)
4- clean your fridge...is your fridge full of condiments...hmmm...check the ingredients...sugar, salt...time to get rid of most of these...make a choice to stick with the basics...and use sparingly
5- processed foods=NO! save yourself...go to the fridge, get rid of your processed foods now...when your fridge starts to look bare...you are on the right track...now fill it up with some colors....green and reds are a great start (and vegetables of these colors are generally fantastic for you!!!)
...you now have some more work cut out for you!!!
...time to get moving...but only after reading this....
the winning entry for what being part of ELITE NATION means to you.
Winner- Stacey Lobb (for those who do not know who she is...trust me...YOU WILL...she has started her SHOCK and AWE campaigne for the upcoming Figure Season!!!!)
...to explain what it is like to be a part of ELITE NATION I first would have to give you an understanding of who I am and why I feel so fortunate to be a part of this wonderful place...
Becoming a teenage Mom was challenging to say the least. Starting to parent at such a young age meant growing up at lightening speed and facing many obstacles. Dont get me wrong, becoming a Mother is the best thing that ever happened to me. (my sons are the best part of me!) I wouldnt change a thing. However, the emotional struggle within me is that I only define myself as a Mom. I have not had the opportunity to find out who "Stacey" is. I am almost an 'empty nester' now and the prospect of discovering who I am as an individual is extremely exciting! I haven't every allowed myself to 'dream' or set goals as my sons needs were (and still are) the top priority. However, as they are getting older and need me less, I have started to focus on my own interests. Phyiscal heath and weight training is a passion. Training for competition seemed so far from reality....
Leigh's Athena Project was an amazing stepping stone to become a regular client at Elite. This is not just your "run of the mill" boot camp. You get your ass kicked! I loved it! It confirmed what I already knew through and that was I NEEDED to be there every day! The day that Jeff told me he would take me on as a client and help me train for Novice was a life changing moment. I was finally doing something for myself, something that I have wanted to so badly for so long. I remember calling my sons from the parking lot telling them through tears what had just happened. They were ecstatic too! From that very moment I knew I was about to embark on an incredible, amazing journey....
Every day I look forward to coming in. At work I watch the clock in my office and count down the hours until I am pulling on to Lowson Crescent. The positivity from the trainers and the energy from the building are indescribable. Nothing else matters when I'm there. As Mo would say "this is your sanctuary". It is almost therapeutic. Not only am I building a strong body but more importantly a strong heart and mind. The friends I've made, the people I've met and the things I have learned (and continue to learn) are priceless. The support and encouragement is more than I could've ever hoped for. You've never made to feel like your questions are stupid (even though when I look back on it, some may have been!). The other day, after weeks of watching me prepare my meals and running out the door in my gym clothes, a co-worker told me that I inspire her. I was shocked. Me? Inspire someone? When people ask where I train, I take a moment to describe the place...but I can't... it's something you can only experience when you walk through the door and up the stairs.
I am 12 weeks into my cotest preparation and I already feel like a better mother, co-worker and friend. I also feel like I can handle stress easier...funny how that happens! I am so excited for the next 6 months. Training for my first competition is just 'icing on the cake'. However, it's not about the sparkly suit and the 5 inch heels. For me, it's about fulfilling a dream. It's being part of something much bigger...it's about being part of ELITE NATION.
