...is ELITE the real world?

...it is early morning and things are running 100 mph...

...not just our Staff...but the clients as well..we have already seen workouts today that would make everyone at any other fitness facility stop and stare in disbelief!!!

...last night during an interview of a new client, as standard practice... I mentioned our policies- no lates, no no-shows, you must pass two physical exams, a fitness test and the fact that all athletes who begin during the school year must submit the most recent copy of their report card....

..."I am not looking for rules just looking for a place to train....."

...well, obviously the interviewee, was a little taken aback by the fact the ELITE was demanding so much from him...

...he asked " is this a realistic approach to getting me better?"...

....hmmmm....

....I looked around the room, THE BOX bursting at the seems with athletes doing the unimaginable , the 30 chairs full of clients waiting for a nutrition lecture....on a night where most "normal" people were afraid to leave the safe confines of their caves....

...I stood up and shook his hand and said, "ELITE is not what you are looking for"...gave him the name of another place where he would fit in better....

...later on I reflected on last night  ... though 70% of applicants are sent packing to other places....I had a moment where I wondered....does ELITE ask too much from the NATION?....

...to be here, you NEED to be focussed, determined, driven and possessing a bit of stubbornness will serve you well... you need to want to redefine who you are and what you thought were your limits (physically and hopefully even more)....

...hmmm....

...sound exactly like what it takes to succeed in the REAL WORLD.....

Until next time ELITE NATION,
onward and upward,
your pal,
fISH

Well said FISH (as usual). Your words, much like the training regiment down at the box - are real! Life is real- there are no shortcuts.

    expectation. execution. no excuses.

As a friend of Elite Nation I visit the BOX at various times of day and I get to see athletes of all shapes and sizes being put through their paces. In my line of work I also have the opportunity to provide an outside opinion on what I see when I visit many public and private training facilities. Each time I am at the BOX one thing stands out to me... every athlete has a unified and unwavering work ethic and an expectation that everyone else in Elite Nation will and should be working as hard as they do. I see athletes step up to push fellow athletes on whenever a trainer is occupied with someone else. Everyone looks out for everyone else and cheers them on when someone pushes towards a goal - the recent Breast Cancer event was a great example. Everyone has responsibility to themselves, to the community and to Elite Nation. In the 'REAL' corporate world, companies can only hope to have this mind-set and attitude as part of their corporate cultures. You definitely have something special and unique.
